Ash Brokerage was celebrating fancy new digs in Fort Wayne. Their sense of community inspired them to give back, too. They chose to help our soldiers overseas with goody bags from back home.
If you have something to celebrate, does it occur to you to give to charity? Ash Brokerage has a lot of reasons to feel fortune has been good to them. They have a beautiful new building serving as their headquarters, for starters.
Celebrating by Giving Back
This summer, at a sales training event at their brand new digs, they decided to combine training with giving back. That’s where we came in, and served up our Mission: Military Care charity workshop. The result?
Over 300 items were sent overseas to soldiers!
Stationed in far-away places and missing home, these soldiers love care packages. The items they receive are reminders of home. They also feel reassured that yes, people back Stateside are thinking of them and the job they do for all of us.
Nine Ash Brokerage Teams Fill Bags to Overflowing Capacity
After ice breakers and hands-on activities designed to encourage better communication and collaboration, the group was divided into nine teams. They filled the military care packages (bags) to capacity plus in record time. Over the next few days, those bags would go out to deployed soldiers.
Operation Stars and Stripes, with whom we frequently collaborate, took care of the logistics of getting those bags to soldiers. Thanks go out to that charitable organization for the help they always provide to us for our Mission: Military Care workshops.
A Command Performance Caps Off the Event
the group enjoyed a command performance. The local National Guard in Fort Wayne sent a rep to share how much care packages meant to deployed soldiers.
Also present was recently deployed Command Sergeant Major Kelly Kelly. His speech had everyone at full attention. It really brought home how much it means to soldiers stationed overseas when they get care packages from folks back home.
At the end of the day, the group from Ash Brokerage got far more than they’d bargained for. Expecting merely a day of training, they ended up working together in a high-energy environment, laughing together, and competing in fun activities. They saw fun sides of people, which don’t always emerge at work. Finally, they got to give back in a way that touched their hearts and made them feel proud to be employees of Ash Brokerage. Good work!
