One of our favorite clients, Cherry Bekaert, discovered that the best team bonding ideas for their staff should involve charitable giving. Magnovo’s Rescue Buddies Charity Workshop fit the bill perfectly.
Established in 1947, Cherry Bekaert is one of the top 30 accounting firms in the country. With more than one thousands employees, they provide accounting and consulting services to a number of industries including health and life sciences, industrial manufacturing, real estate, and construction and technology.

Their purpose: “…to provide guidance and support that helps our clients move forward to reach their organizational goals….”
Fun team bonding ideas
Cherry Bekaert knows that a day with Magnovo guarantees 2 things: professional growth and fun! During our latest adventure, we met 120 of their employees at the Wyndham Bonnet Creek Resort in Orlando for a double-header of charitable giving pleasure. Yes: it really is better to give than to receive!
We conducted 2 Rescue Buddies Workshops with 60 staffers in each. After a refresher on leadership skills, collaboration, and other team building basics, they applied these concepts to some hands-on exercises.
The highlight was the assembly of a slew of bears, birds, fish, mooses, and other stuffed animals for donation to distressed kids in the Orlando community.
Team bonding ideas that heal
Rescue Buddies are lovingly stuffed and assembled by workshop participants for donation to kids who’ve endured an accident, a fire, or even domestic violence.
Sadly the need is very great. Every day nearly 500 children are hurt in car crashes in this country. And equally horrifying: every day a quarter of the domestic violence cases in America are witnessed by a child.
Life changing experiences like these can be devastating for young children. They need something to cling to, something comforting and reassuring. That’s what our Rescue Buddies do. They provide a soft emotional landing place and a new friend to cuddle.
The 120 Rescue Buddies our workshop participants made were donated to 2 Orlando-based charities. Hope Dealing Mindset is a mentor program that empowers and develops leadership skills, self-awareness, self-respect, and healthy social skills in low-income families.
And New Image Youth Ctr Inc. operates a number of after-school and summer programs for at-risk youth and sets them on the path to success through education and positive role modeling.
Lots of team bonding opportunities. Two great charities! A great day!
