Carroll Management Group Helps Local MDA in Atlanta, GA

The SunTrust Park Konica Minolta Conference Center in Atlanta, GA, was the site of our team building event. Our goal was to assistCarroll Management Group employees to improve collaborative skills, communication skills, and problem-solving skills. The WheelCharity™ program fosters each of those skill sets through hands-on practice. We arranged for the local Muscular Dystrophy Association to receive the wheelchairs we’d build that day.

While this was a group of about 150 people who already worked together locally, we still played a few ice breaker games. Afterward, participants divided into several teams. Our group facilitator gave each team some of the parts they’d need to put together wheelchairs; he explained that teams would need to compete for the rest. A fast-paced series of games ensued, with the sounds of friendly competition filling the conference space!

We played some of our most popular games, like Say What I Say, Flip Cup, Group Writing, Dice Game, and Cup Pyramid. All of the Carroll Management Group employees were good sports. People sincerely collaborated on the best way to win parts and build as may wheelchairs as possible for people in need.

A WheelCharity™ Success for MDA

Carroll Management Group’s teams completed dozens of wheelchairs. We held a wheelchair obstacle course to give participants a chance to see how difficult it can be to live with mobility issues. This was a powerful motivator for those who wanted to add messages of support to the wheelchairs being delivered through the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).

Hillary Bauer of the Muscular Dystrophy Association arrived to accept delivery of the wheelchairs. She shared several stories of those facing neuromuscular dystrophy and how much the wheelchairs helped them and their families. The MDA advocates for medical research and the care of those facing diseases like Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Congenital Muscular Dystrophy (CMD), Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), and many more.

A Real Win-Win for All

Carroll Management Group’s WheelCharity™ team building event gave participants the chance to come together to improve important workplace skills. They also improved the quality of life for area residents suffering from serious health conditions that affect their mobility.
