If you want to host a team event that will challenge your team members to use various skills from the workplace and assist them in learning some new skills, then think about having them build wagons for children in the community.
You can even take the team event a step further by then filling the wagons with toys and other gifts that the children might want or need. A number of organizations in your local area can profit from this team event, including food banks, local fire and police stations that often work with children during times of emergency, schools, and hospitals for children.
When the Building Begins
Break your team down into smaller teams that will work together to build their wagons. Matching team members with other members who they don’t usually interface with provides a great opportunity to forge more of a sense of camaraderie. As team members work together to assemble wagons during this team event, they will use a variety of strategies and approaches to design and build the final product.
Creative thinking, collaboration, communication, problem solving, and brainstorming will all be skills necessary to successful wagon building. The motivation for team members will arise from working together to make a difference in a positive way. This team event also gives team members an awareness of their own strengths and weaknesses and the significant contribution that each member makes to the team as a whole.
At the end of the wagon build, team members will also have the joy of filling the wagons with various toys, including dolls and stuffed animals, jump ropes, hula hoops, toy instruments, board games, balls, yo-yos, and anything else that a child might enjoy.
A Team Event for All
When you provide your team members with a team event that gives something back to the community, you give them a chance to unite and have a positive impact on those around them.
When the wagons have been assembled and filled, team members can decide who they want to deliver the wagons to. Any organization would be happy to receive them and distribute them to the children they serve. The facilitators that have developed Charity Team Building Events’s Wagon Building Team Building Workshop can guide you through this team event to ensure that it is an ultimate success for everyone involved.
